Dear reader,
We are Notice this Notice, a theatre company based in York. It's no secret that the theatre industry is struggling. Producing a show is an expensive process, and always poses a financial risk. Despite this, we are absolutely committed to making sure all of the actors that we work with are paid for their time and skills. This means that the vast majority of our budgets rightly go to the talented professionals that we work with.
As a small but ambitious company, we have several shows currently in development. We are desperate to get on the road a revamped and very eagerly awaited new tour of our debut production 'The Most Sensational Comedy of Dick Shwick!' We are also working on an imaginative and exciting new adaptation of Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein', and a hilarious new adaptation of Jerome K. Jerome's 'Three Men in a Boat' that we have very ambitious plans for. This might all sound like a lot, and it is! Which is why we could really use your help.
Alongside paying the wages of the professionals involved with these show, creating a touring theatre show is impossible without a large list of expenses including, but probably not limited to:
* Travel costs and vehicle maintenance
* Cost of hiring rehearsal space
* Insurance costs
* Advertising and marketing for our shows
* Props and costumes
* Accommodation whilst on tour
* Keeping our actors fed on the road!
All of these costs add up and inevitably end up dictating the ticket prices of each show.
As a professional company, we prioritise fair treatment for the actors we employ, which tends to max out our budget. Because of this, just a small donation can make a real difference to an upcoming show. For example, a £5 donation could provide us with a new costume item (we love scouring the charity shops!), £10 can pay for a pot of paint to bring a new stage piece to life, £20 can put enough fuel into our tour vehicle to get us to the next venue, and anything more can be a real game changer in terms of how we plan the next budget for our show.
All donations, no matter the amount, help us on our mission to keep our work affordable and accessible to as many people as possible. We truly believe that imaginative and exciting theatre can brighten everybody's lives and we want to be able to make and share our playful work for years to come.
Thank you and keep on loving the arts!
