Our Mission:
The aim of ‘Not A Statistic NE’ is to provide a safe space access Peer to Peer support around issues someone may be facing or be supporting someone else to face their issues.
At ‘Not a Statistic NE’ we aim to reduce social isolation, preventing suicide, and giving people somewhere to find their peers. by offering a safe environment to anyone over 16 years of age to access free to attend peer to peer support groups sessions. All sessions will be accessible to anyone regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation or disability or difficulty.

Why?:
Social isolation, loneliness and suicide are all massive social issues impacting the lives of people living in the north east of England however, It is not just the individuals themselves that are impacted, but families, friends, healthcare workers, emergency services and other people witnessing their suffering.
Social isolation and loneliness were issues before Covid 19 however, the Northeast is still feeling this impact today and without places to access support through conventional means a vast majority of people are resorting to suicide.
We will differ from other companies by being inclusive to everyone over the age of 16 years old, regardless of gender, race or social situation. Unlike most other groups which are gender/race or social situation specific.
Our sessions will always be free to attend and open to anyone.

Who We Are?:
‘Not A Statistic Northeast CIC’ is a Community Interest Company Limited by Guarantee, A CIC is a special type of limited company which exists to benefit the community rather than private shareholders.
If any surplus is generated, we expect that this will be reinvested in the business and/or donated to CICs and charities with similar objectives, with the consent of the CIC Regulator.
Our Founder:
"I have struggled with my own mental health for the whole of my adult life and genuinely believe peer to peer support saved my life. when I was going through my darkest times, I was lucky to find groups during the day, however i found once i returned to work, Evening groups were not as easy to come by. This is why i started 'Not a Statistic Northeast CIC'"
What We Need?:
We are looking to raise funds to support sessions in Sunderland, with sessions in Durham, Washington and Houghton Le Spring being our next targets. Along with day to day running costs of the CIC, Including Office Space, Website, Social media and Advertisement etc.
At ‘Not A Statistic Northeast CIC’ sessions, are free to attend, with Tea/Coffee and soft drinks at no charge.
We will ensure all participants needs are met throughout the session, to ensure inclusivity and along with making sure information is given to help individuals access any support they need following a session.
Individuals are offered the option to reach out to us prior to sessions if they require support to attend. Most other local groups only offer contact after attending the sessions.
As we progress with expanding session numbers, we will recruit volunteers who will be mentored/supported to support service users at sessions.
Sessions will be held at set locations, at routine intervals to provide structure and consistency, this along with access to our social media and website 24/7 group participants will be able to access support information out with session times.
All staff at 'Not A Statistic Northeast CIC' are unpaid volunteers including our directors. As per our regulators guidelines a small amount of expenses will be paid in relation to activities partaken for the CIC.
