I'm standing in the Maryhill byelection to defend my home community from losing its community centre, at the behest of the SNP Green Council, to stop the madness of reducing the amount of social housing in the Wyndford during a housing and homelessness emergency, to force Glasgow City Council to build *Council Housing* once again at Collina Street, and to work with the people of Maryhill for independence, and political agency for working people.
Our party's umwhile leader championed these causes, alongside independence because it is only through demonstrating that the powers of independence can move us away from the British state's austerity, what others have called Sado-Monetarism and the Vampire Castle. We can right here and right now force a different model of social and economic development.
I am a lifelong community activist and have worked as a professional community organiser for several union organisations. I believe that putting an organiser in our City Chambers (not just a politician) is the approach we need to take forward what Alex Salmond termed disruptive leadership.
