The existing storage container installed in New Ferry Butterfly Park is full to bursting. A second container will alleviate the congestion.
As it enters it's 30th year New Ferry Butterfly Park is still looking to the future and how it can increase its involvement with the local community.
During the opening season visitors are welcomed on Sunday afternoons and each week at least two local groups have guided tours. These include pre-school groups, primary schools, special schools, Beavers, Brownies and adults.
The only storage space for our educational materials, pond dipping equipment, tools and equipment is a 20ft storage container which is now insufficient for our needs.
We have been granted planning permission by Wirral Borough Council to install a second storage container.
The extra space will enable us to substantially improve the effectiveness of our work and provide a better experience for our visitors. It will also make it easier to host community events more efficiently.
Once the new container is in place a sloping roof will be installed to collect rainwater for use in the Park and the side will be decorated to make it as attractive as our current container.
New Ferry Butterfly Park is run by its own volunteers and by Wirral Countryside Volunteers. The income to run New Ferry Butterfly Park comes from fund raising and grants. We have raised part of the money to purchase the new container but are short of £2,100.
That is why we are asking our friends and supporters for donations.
Below is an artists impression of the installed container.
