The volunteer centre aims to help people in need, through the direct actions of local volunteers, by providing accessible transport, support groups, a befriending service and information provision. We seek to identify gaps in community care which can appropriately be met by volunteer activity. We also assist and promote other community based health and welfare groups in their activities.

New Mills & District Volunteer Centre is a local charity that has been supporting the communities of the High Peak since 1983. With the support of our volunteers, we provide a range of support services and activities, helping those who are elderly, disabled and isolated.
We are launching our Christmas appeal; with your help we will be able to extend our services that support our residents.
Christmas Appeal - we are seeking to raise £ 11,460 to support our community through the winter months.
What will this fund?
Befriending - we support isolated residents, by matching them with a trained volunteer and our " check in and chat " service. We currently receive no major funding for this service and have relied on using donations to support this service.
We are seeking funding to support the programme through the winter. For 3 months the service costs us £5,800
Transport service - we offer a weekly minibus to support the needs of our local community - this can also support wheelchair users; the trips allow access to a range of more affordable shops in local towns. We also use the minibus to collect our residents that want to come to your weekly lunch sessions.
Transport support is a lifeline for those that cannot drive or access public transport in a rural environment. For four months our service costs us £ 4,460 and we rely on donations to support this service, as the winter months approach this service is essential to support those that don't have access to a car or can use public transport.
We run both a Winter warm hub - so that anyone who is struggling with the cost of heating can use our spaces, and Acoustic soup days - providing warm and nutritious homemade soup and entertainment. We are seeking £1,200 towards the costs of these events.
In total for the Christmas Appeal - we are seeking to raise £ 11,460 to support our community through the winter months.
