New Leaf Support wants to establish a new support group for the mature members of society who are affected by Domestic Abuse.
Self-esteem is damaged when living in abusive relationships and we aim to build resilience and renew confidence. This group will offer emotional support and practical advice to stay safe in relationships. Providing participants with access to legal advice and empowering them to make changes in their lives.
How we will do this
Our trained Domestic Abuse support workers and volunteers will run weekly sessions in a safe environment giving practical and emotional advice and support. Creating a peer support network helps people to see that they aren’t alone. Accessing legal advice and services can be confusing and we’ll be there to help people navigate the various agencies and complexities.
We are looking to raise £3,380.00
“People of any age can be affected by domestic abuse, but older people can be particularly vulnerable to certain forms of abuse, including by a carer and financial abuse. They are likely to be dependent on the person abusing them and very few older domestic abuse victims are accessing professional support.”
