Why are we crowdfunding?
The widespread impact of rising costs and inflation is keenly felt across diverse sectors, affecting both individuals and organisations alike. Non-league football, such as Woodbridge Town FC, a cherished pillar of community involvement, is not immune to these economic strains.
Although Woodbridge Town FC has admirably weathered the financial storms exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic without turning to crowdfunding, recent times have brought forth unprecedented challenges. A significant spike in gas prices by 300%, coupled with a series of home match postponements due to waterlogged pitches, has placed considerable strain on the club's finances.
Adding to these difficulties is the urgent need for a new boiler for the clubhouse, crucial for ensuring smooth operations during matchdays and other club activities. This boiler, a relic from the early days of Notcutts Park, where a memorable clash with Arsenal drew a record crowd of 3000, faithfully served the club for 34 years before its condemnation. Its malfunction presents Woodbridge Town FC with a critical dilemma, making the organisation of essential club functions notably challenging, if not unfeasible.
Given these circumstances, the idea of crowdfunding emerges as a crucial means of support for Woodbridge Town FC. More than just financial assistance, it symbolises a call to the community, urging supporters, sponsors, and enthusiasts to unite in support of their beloved club during this trying period. It serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring resilience and camaraderie that characterise grassroots football, demonstrating how collective efforts can overcome even the most daunting of obstacles.
