Nepal Urgent Covid 19 appeal!!!
The second wave of covid-19 has brought Nepal’s fragile health care system to a standstill, with the number of recorded infections doubling every three days among a largely unvaccinated population: making death count total to 4466 deaths till to date.
The Covid positive rate is 47% or higher, one of the highest in the world and the cases have been surged by 1200% in recent weeks. The total number of recorded cases has reached up to 431,191 so far in the cities, however it is not the right number as majority of population in rural areas have not been tested or treated due to the lack of health care centres, staff and medical supplies. The country only has 1,595 intensive care beds and 48 ventilators for its about 30 million people. It also has a shortage of doctors, with just 0.7 physicians per 100,000 people, according to World Bank data - less than India's 0.9.
Not long after recovering from the devastating earthquake that shook the whole nation in 2015, it is heart wrenching to see Nepalese people struggling again to survive this pandemic. The saddest part is to watch people die without having to access the basic and relevant treatment.
Being a developing country and mostly relying on India; the scarcity of life saving medical emergencies such as oxygen cylinders, vaccines and PPE kits are depleting every minute or simply not available in small cities and villages.
Please donate with an open heart to support people fighting against COVID 19 pandemic in Nepal!!!
Your contribution will go towards minimising the critical oxygen shortage in the country’s provinces like Rupandehi. Currently, local oxygen plant is only producing 300 cylinders per 24 hours which is nowhere near to the number of critically ill patients admitted in hospitals who require oxygen urgently! we need a funding of minimum £25000 to run this plant effectively in order to meet the current needs.
Your generous contribution can fulfil the urgent need of oxygen and save people’s lives. No amount is too small! Every penny makes a difference!
