My project aims to start an eco friendly business focusing on needlecraft, hosting events and improving access to information and supplies.

We're still collecting donations

On the 6th January 2022 we'd raised £40 with 3 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

I've learned to do needlework including embroidery and sewing when I was very young. In the recent years that skill has developed into a passion. I would like to create a space for those sharing all things needle, fabric and thread to develop, learn and find high quality supplies.

I would like to ensure that the services and events are available to everyone regardless of their level of ability, age, race, disability and other aspects of their life.

The funds raised would go towards obtaining premises, organizing classes, workshops and community events as well as good quality stock of supplies for sale (inc. Locally developed kits, pieces of work made by local artists, materials, tools, equipment) and equipment that could be lent out to crafters.  My area does not have a specialised needlework shop nor many (if any)  places that could supply those engaging in heritage crafts. It is worth noting that these are crafts that are endangered and are even going extinct!  This means that skills and good craftsmanship are at risk of becoming lost in time and completely forgotten!

Ideally I would like to make sure that there is some studio space that could be made available to crafters on regular basis.

In time I would like to broaden the interest of the business to include other crafting activities and high quality supplies. I am currently collaborating with someone whose focus is paper crafts and would happily include them in the project from the start. This has also opened new possibilities for recycling and upcycling.
