Help Us Host the UK's First Pigeon Advocacy Conference!
We're on a mission to host the UK's first-ever Pigeon Advocacy Conference — a unique event dedicated to educating, inspiring, and connecting pigeon lovers, rehabbers, and animal rights advocates.
Our conference will take place in October 2025 and will feature engaging talks, hands-on workshops, and a vegan shopping experience — all in a compassionate setting that celebrates these often-misunderstood birds.
We need your help to make it happen! With your support, we can secure a venue, create educational materials, and reach hundreds of people who want to learn how to better care for and protect pigeons.
Our Story and Vision
This pioneering event is organised by Sue of Little Green Pigeon C.I.C. and The National Pigeon Advocacy Association, in collaboration with renowned veterinary nurse and animal protection campaigner Shakira Free.
Shakira is an award-winning veterinary nurse with 15 years of experience, a passionate advocate for animal protection, and a dedicated multi species rescuer. She spends her time catching, rehabilitating, and advising on pigeon care internationally.
Sue started a bird sanctuary in 2009 while working in a veterinary clinic. After seeing so many birds turned away without help, she knew something had to change. In 2021, she founded Little Green Pigeon C.I.C. to fund her sanctuary work. Sue actively campaigns to tackle the pigeon racing industry, and in 2024, she established Harper's Fund to support sanctuaries caring for pigeons in need. Most recently, in 2025, Sue launched the National Pigeon Advocacy Association to further promote pigeon care and rights.
Why Are We Doing This?
Our idea for this conference was born from a growing need. We’re constantly asked for advice on pigeon care by people who want to help but don’t know where to start. Standards of care need to improve, and there’s a real hunger from people wanting to learn how to support these amazing birds better across the globe. We’ve also been asked to share what we know — from choosing safe rehabilitation spaces to making ethical decisions about pigeon care.
So, we thought — what better way to bring everyone together than a conference? We want this event to inspire, educate, and connect pigeon lovers, rehabbers, and advocates. By building a strong community, we can improve the lives of pigeons everywhere and teach others to do the same.
Where Will Your Money Go?
Your donation will help us:
Secure the Venue: We’re currently in talks with Midlands venues and need funds to place a deposit and confirm the booking.
Create Event Materials and Supplies: Every attendee will get resources like goodie bags, notepads, and guides to support their learning.
Promote the Event: We want to reach as many people as possible, including pigeon rehabbers and advocates worldwide. Funds will go toward marketing, social media campaigns, and outreach.
Crowdfunder Rewards
We’re aiming to raise £6,000 to make this conference a reality. The great thing about Crowdfunder is that if we don’t hit our goal, no one loses a penny — everyone gets their money back.
