I lost both parents to cancer in a space of 2.5 months a few years ago. Interestingly, a great part of my resilient nature is borne from the life lessons and words of wisdom they shared with me, particularly life lessons from my mum. When she wasn't home for a while, she went through such length to get her message across to us in letters, cassettes and CD's. Today, listening to her voice and reading her letters are such great treasures that give me a great sense of identity, resilience and faith that I can let's me know I can do much more and be much more.
I am a mum now, and there was a time I wished I had more letters, more cassettes and CD's that I could draw strength and wisdom from, but two years ago, in 2018, I realised, I could either continue wishing or start a legacy journal for my children.
I searched and bought a few notebooks, but none of them ever gave me the right structure of information flow and documentation I needed to build on. So, I decided to build one that will tell and show my life stories, as well as give me room to leave great words of wisdom and knowledge I experience in moments. A journal that captures all of my life-lessons in the moment, with no restrictions to a long wait for my children to come to a specific age before I share my truths.

Life happens everyday and we are too much in a hurry to move to the next thing without having spent sufficient time absorbing the lessons learned in the moment; and guess what, tomorrow's events will push today's lessons into an archive. So, why not put it in writing in real-time (or moments later)? Why wait till when they are 10, 12, 14, 18+?
The My Mama Says Journal project is part of my OWN IT Challenge™ trademarked initiative to owning your life's journey. The specific agenda behind this project is to bridge the gap between generational identity, lineage recognition, documented parental words of advise and life experiences, healthy emotional resilience and a stronger sense of control for our children.
1. They'll feel a strong connection to you.
2. You activate the power of reflection and deep analysis (for yourself and for them)
3. You live a lifelong imprint of you
4. Your words will be their most valued source of truth and assurance
5. It'll be a part of you they carry with them anywhere

By pledging £20, £50 or even more today you can really help make this the first vibrant campaign we’ve ever delivered.
I am in the final phase of completing the details of the inner pages. We need funds for high resolution illustrations for the 10 sections of the journal, videos and social media advertising and the miscellaneous expenses involved in mounting a project of this scope - including deposits, production and the website build.
With your support we can hit the ground running in late March, and push to get your copies to you by October 2020.
The TEAM
Currently, I have an illustrator and I am working on taking on a great comic illustrator who offers highly skilled artists from less privileged countries and backgrounds an opportunity to work and earn money in a field that they love; I am working to bring her on the project to get some of the pieces done.
There will be a minimum of 10 illustrations within this Journal depicting the messages of the major events and transitions in life.
We need your help to print the first 600 copies of this journal. I have £2500 of my personal savings to put into this and looking for an extra £8250 to complete the first phase of the whole project.
The following is a general estimate of the planned timeline for the production of My Mama Says Journal.
We want to make the best journal we can, so we wanted to leave the above timeline open to change depending on how both this campaign and the actual production of the journal goes - especially with the effects of the coronavirus happenings around the globe.

Having published a book independently a few years ago, I know that things can go wrong somewhere. Across the team we have a combined 12+ years of project management experience.
However, we understand that no campaign comes without challenges. And we want to effectively manage the production process and set accurate expectations. Although certain things like custom delays are difficult to predict, we made sure our schedule allows for delays and unforeseen circumstances. In any case, we'll make sure to update you frequently on our progress and keep the process as transparent as possible! Thanks for all the support! The team and I are excited to take this next step in our journey with the Natwest Back Her Business and Crowdfunder community!
