Neurodiversity UK Background

Neurodiversity UK has been serving the needs of the Comber and wider Ards region for just over 10 years. In that time, the lived experience of the organisation and the individuals providing services to children, young people and adults, and their families, have become increasingly frustrated by the concerns and difficulties that have become a constant feature of the Health & Social Care system.

Children are waiting  extremely long times to be taken into the assessment and diagnostic pathway. Once diagnosed, follow on support is not what it needs to be. Consequently, individual children are surviving in a world that can be almost impossible to understand and as difficult to be part of. Schools and families are sharing the stress of young people and are almost powerless to affect change.

An undiagnosed Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can have a profound, negative effect on not only the child, but also their familial and educational environments, after-school/social activities and ultimately their progression into the workplace. We strive to help families offer the best possible support to achieve positive outcomes for their children.

Why We are Crowdfunding

Every child, young person and young adults have the right to live worthwhile,  valued and independent lives. However, not all with Neurodiversity can enjoy such ambitions. Many have never been offered basic financial advice. However, we work tirelessly every day to change this.

Our fundraising efforts will allow us to give basic, but comprehensive financial advice to  a wide range of people with a Neurodivergent condition. Through participation in My Money - My Choices, beneficiaries will discover:

Increased levels of self-confidence and self-worth of participants

Increased feelings of inclusion

Reduction of rural isolation amongst people with a Neurodiverse Condition

Increased mental health support leading to higher levels of positive mental and physical health outcomes

Increased recognition by participants, employers and wider society as a whole, of the unique skills and abilities of those with Neurodiverse issues

Increased levels of independent living and positive contributions to our local community and society1716323766_pic_1.jpg
