Help us create an unforgettable South African experience center in the UK! A place for food-culture-unforgettable memories with families

by Africa coming to the UK in England, United Kingdom

1742033201_1000194712.jpgHi, my name is Debbie Carmichael, and I have a dream that’s been growing in my heart for a long time. I’ve been saving and planning, but as I’ve shared my vision with others, I’ve come to realize that it’s bigger than my savings alone can handle. So here I am—asking for a village to help raise this dream from the ground up.

Every time I return to South Africa, I’m reminded of that incredible feeling of community, family, and a love for the outdoors. It’s the warmth of sitting around a big open fire (or as we call it, the Bush TV), sharing stories, laughter, and just soaking in the peace and tranquillity. It’s like therapy for the soul. That sense of belonging and connection is what I want to recreate here in the UK.

My dream is to build an African-themed experience center—a place where families can come together, unplug, and immerse themselves in the spirit of South African culture. I envision a space where kids can play and explore the outdoors like we did growing up—riding homemade go-karts, taking tractor rides, and having silly races, all while parents relax around the fire with delicious homemade food and the beat of African music in the background.

Food is at the heart of our culture, and I want to share that too. From traditional braais (BBQs) to mouth-watering homemade dishes, I want to create a place where food becomes a way of teaching and connecting. Whether you’re South African or from any corner of the world, I want you to experience the warmth, hospitality, and community that define us.

To make this dream a reality, I need a piece of land—at least 5 hectares—and the funds to build facilities that can accommodate large groups, with ample parking and catering spaces, including a butcher shop showcasing South African meats like biltong. Finding the right location and securing planning permission has been a challenge, but I know it’s possible with the right support.

The estimated cost is around £400,000, and while I have some savings and skilled people ready to help, I can’t do it alone. That’s why I’m reaching out to you. Your support—no matter how small—brings us closer to creating a place where families can reconnect, share stories, and feel the essence of Africa without leaving the UK.

Let’s make this dream a reality together. Thank you for being part of the village that makes it possible.
