Museum of Human Kindness

Museum of Human Kindness is a physical and digital museum that turns stories on acts of kindness into works of art.

We need to raise £3000 to produce our first exhibition that brings real-life stories and story-inspired art together, and to spark new conversations on compassion. 

What does the Museum do?

The Museum collects stories from the public on acts of kindness people received from complete strangers. We then bring in a selected group of artists to respond to and create new work inspired by some of these stories. 

It's a space where art and stories are presented side-by-side to spark new conversations on empathy and nurture a more compassionate society.

What's the motivation?

The Museum is motivated by our desire to counter the growing prevalence of polarising narratives seen in the media. These seem to drive us more and more apart even though for most of us, our everyday experience is quite different: interactions not only with family and friends but also with strangers are characterized by goodwill, civility, and acts of kindness. The museum attempts to highlight these acts—small and large—and emphasise the common humanity that binds us together.

How will we use your money?

So far, we've driven the Museum forward with volunteered time and energy. Your support will help us:

• Cover the costs associated with the build of our first exhibition 
• Run public art workshops on kindness
• Provide a modest fee to artists creating work for the exhibition
• Create a beautiful full-colour exhibition catalogue, and 
• Create an awesome state-of-the-art virtual reality digital archive of the show (with support from V21 Artspace)

What's our dream?

We want to create a kindness aware world through art. The museum is where intangible acts of kindness are turned into tangible experiences for all to reflect, discuss and strengthen our own 'kindness muscles'.

Is this a one-off project or an on-going commitment? 

We want to go global. We want to create more exhibitions in different cities, countries and contexts. This is our first baby-step forward.
