"Mother's Love" - short film - festivals

Aim: This short film will be featured at film festivals. It is a sample of my work and a prelude to A Good Fruit - a supernatural drama TV series

I am a screenwriter and filmmaker who's interested in local, social and family issues. A film and media graduate at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. I was raised in a large family surrounded by cousins, uncles and aunties. Like any other family we were challenged by plentiful of issues - some big and coplex, some small but, we often found ways to make them big anyway. I feel like a family is both, a blessing and a course at the same time. Those who love us the most tend to hurt us the most. 

Oedipal Mother is one of the issues I will talk about in my films. A devouring mother concept and masculinity go hand in hand. The lack of masculinity provides a field for a strong woman who has to replace both, a mother and a father. I believe that as parents we have our unique qualities and functions to fulfil. A single parent is faced with almost an impossible task. My film talks about this issue from a single mother's perspective who becomes a sole and fierce protector of her son. 

The filming of the project will take place in the city of Lublin, Poland. The funding will cover the crew, actors, equipment rental, scenography, permits, accommodation and board, transport and yours truly, me as a director. Looking to raise around £20.000. It may seem a lot for a short film. Yes, I have previously made short films with a fraction of this budget. However, I intend this Mother's Love to be cinema worthy. The filming will take approximately 5-6 days.

This short film will be screened at film festivals. It will be the focus of social discucions. It will highlight the issues of a single parenthood. Furthermore, Mother's Love is going to serve as a sample of my work and an important part of my portfolio as a screenwriter and filmmaker. I have other big project lined up called A Good Fruit - a limited TV drama series addressing more social issues. A Good Fruit is a supernatural Family Saga spanning accross generations. It has the elements of thriller, a love story and an action film - think The Haunting of Hill House meets The Butterfly Effect and Mr Destiny. Good luck imagining this :))
