Mossley Foodbank was first established 10 years ago, to provide emergency food to people in need. From providing 1 or 2 parcels a week, we are now averaging between 35 & 40 parcels a week. This is now higher numbers than during Covid.
We are made up of team of volunteers & we open each week. We work on a referrals basis & these referrals can come from Housing Officers, Welfare Teams, Schools, Health Visitors etc. We provide help, advice & support to anyone within our local community, that finds themselves in poverty.
Although we have alot of support from the local community, donations have dropped, due to the cost of living crisis. We are asking for help, so we can continue to provide support & keep the Foodbank running.
We also have a parent & baby group every other week, which has clothes, baby items available to people that need them. We have close links with other local services, that can access us for support, such as Health Visitors & Social Services.
Our holiday club has been running successfully for the last couple of years. This gives parents somewhere to bring their children during the school holidays, that is free. We have Arts & Crafts, games & an outdoor space, where children can play safely with their friends.
