My name is Leanne Maxwell, and I am the daughter of a wonderful man, Jim Maxwell. In 2019, my father, James, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Despite this diagnosis, he continues to demonstrate remarkable strength and resilience. Throughout the years, he has been an inspiration to us all, actively participating in various fundraising events for MND Scotland*.
Our family has been unwavering in our support for him. My sister ran a half marathon, and my brother-in-law undertook a cycling challenge to raise funds. Many other family members have united to support my father, accompanying him on walks and assisting him before his condition prevented him from walking independently.
While I may not be a runner, I have found my own way to contribute creatively. Last year, I crafted a unique birdhouse as a gift for my father. This birdhouse, complete with a front door, tower, windows, and porch, garnered significant attention both online and within his neighbourhood. This experience inspired me to leverage my skills for a greater cause.
Today, I am raising funds for MND through a raffle for a custom-made birdhouse. This birdhouse features a stained glass* window, functional doors, bird feeders, and more. Each component is handmade by me, using tools that once belonged to my father. I dedicated countless hours, sanding and carving the wood, to create a beautiful addition for someone's garden.
For those in Scotland, I will personally deliver the birdhouse to the raffle winner. For winners outside Scotland, we may need to discuss shipping costs, as the birdhouse is quite heavy.
Thank you for your support,
Leanne Maxwell
