Hi, Salut, Hola, Olá, Ciao, Ahoj!
We are Maria Who?, an emerging migrant theatre led collective. We co-created/perform the theatre play MISS BREXIT - an award winning twisted satire on the migrant experience in the UK.
We are bringing MISS BREXIT to
the UNDERBELLY and we need your help!
MARIA WHO?
We’re a migrant theatre collective committed to breaking stereotypes and giving voice to underrepresented narratives. Our mission is to showcase authentic stories at the world’s largest theatre festival, as a major step into establishing our collective as a force for innovative, diverse theatre in the UK.
YOUR DONATION
Currently, with our company reserves throughout the years, our recent box office at the Omnibus Theatre, and the Keep It Fringe award, we are able to support half the costs of going to the Fringe. We are hard at work applying to further fundings & sponsorships, but we need your help!
The main costs are:
- Venue deposit/Fringe registration/Equipment hire
- Accomodation
- Publicist (PR)
- Marketing (print and advertisement)
Our target is £6000, which would make our run completely funded!
Anything past that target would cover for living expenses at the festival, such a food and transportation.
We are doing the full run at Underbelly to maximise our impact. We are working with an incredible PR who is working close to us to set out a campaign to make us stand out. We are also connected to 4 other companies at the Fringe, so our partnerships will bring audiences in.
WHAT WE’VE ACCOMPLISHED
Our story began in September 2022, when we were university students of Musical Theatre and Acting. Our early work crafted through personal experiences, quickly resonated with audiences, sparking debates and important conversations.
After a persistent effort, we secured Arts Council Funding for our upcoming run at CONTACT Manchester (6th and 7th of June). We have performed throughout Europe, winning two awards at international theatre festivals, and our runs in London have been critically acclaimed.
But by far, our most important milestone throughout these 3 years has been the countless young actors from all over the world that we met. Our impact was showing that it is possible to be an actor, and where you come from doesn’t determine that. The people we keep meeting that resonate with our stories has been the most fulfilling part of our journey, and all of their support got us here.
TO CONCLUDE
By going to Ed Fringe we are determined to make the best out of it and we would be endlessly grateful for your support by being part of the change of narrative. We just want to continue with our mission: give voice, represent and support what are the future generations of an undeniable multilingual society that needs to be reflected in the entertainment industry.
Gracias, obrigado, merci, grácies, dakujem.
