“Have you thought about your future? Has this left you confused, lost, or afraid? Do you know what you want to do with your life?" 

We need your help to fund our science-fiction short film! We're a crew of aspiring filmmakers in need of funding in order to execute the vision of our film, and we kindly welcome any donations put towards our goal of £200.

M.I.A. explores the ways in which today’s corporate world capitalizes on one’s insecurity and confusion regarding their identity. Through M.I.A., our crew encourages viewers to reflect on their dependence on technology in today’s society. We need technology to tell us who and what we are… or do we?

The Film’s Logline: 

Insecure in her own identity, Mia tests out a new Virtual Reality simulation that claims to help her determine her purpose, leading her to embark on a bizarre journey to find herself.

We need your help funding:

Art department: sourcing for props, rentals for costume design, and covering art contingency. The production design is highly futuristic, following a clean and minimalist aesthetic. Yet, additionally uses elements of 80s retro-futurism. 

Location management: we aim to use a section of the budget to secure quality locations and cover utility fees needed to shoot at private spaces. Our locations feature brutalist architecture to transport the viewer into a world of science fiction.    

Transportation: ensuring that our equipment, cast, and crew are securely transported from location to location over the course of three shoot days.    

Catering & Craft: providing on set food, snacks, and drinks for cast and crew to keep energy high!

Confidently dubbed as the "birth child of Severance, Maniac and The Matrix", we invite you to be a part of sci-fi mind-bender, M.I.A. Fusing inspiration from personal experiences and fiction, the complexities of Mia's journey towards self understanding is something we both strongly relate to. In a new era of digitalisation and depersonalisation, it can be extremely hard to find your place in the present, and future. The process of creating M.I.A has been as cathartic for us, as for the character. 

Why SCI-FI?...

Its easy to focus on the past, when the future is uncertain. Through the filmic conventions of the science fiction genre, we can take a common, human struggle, and bend it towards the unreal. Plus... we wanted a challenge.
