Skill Shortage
In recent years McLaren has won UK awards in STEM and Robotics. As a school we believe it is vital to do our part to help fill the skills shortage in STEM careers in Scotland and across the UK as a whole.
We aim to inspire our pupils through a variety of STEM and robotics activities and give them opportunities to compete for National and International awards.
STEM Successes
Since 2016 our pupils have attened National Finals on 14 occassions and 4 have gone on to compete in International Finals.
Inspiring the next generation
McLaren High pupils also recognise the benefits of inspiring the next generation and have run a number of robotics competitions for our 11 associated primaries with hundreds of primary pupils being involved over the last few years. From S1 our pupils begin working towards Young STEM Leader qualifications to demonstrate their passion and enthusiasm for encouraging others in STEM subjects.
Due to our rural catchment area it is a challenge for many of our pupils to attend after school clubs, so we have to run activities through lunchtimes and often need extra equipment to send home with pupils to help them stay involved regardless of location.
By donating, you will be helping us to continue to develop this outstanding pipeline of STEM talent.
