OUR mission is simple, by harnessing the passion and power of the Football Club brand, we work to inspire hope and confidence, and improve the life chances of young people and adults across Teesside.
We operate in some of the most disadvantaged areas of Teesside, engaging with those who are hard to reach through the delivery of inspiring sport, education, health and inclusion projects.
Our work starts with Roary's Academy helping children as young as two years old to become more active. Our projects include work with school groups, disability sports, mental health charities, youth organisations, refugees, walking football and dementia charities with our oldest participant recently celebrating her 100th birthday!
Why do we need an ISportsWall?
We do a lot but would like to do more! An ISportsWall in our Herlingshaw Centre would allow us to make our sports provision even more inclusive.
The soft balls used with the ISportsWall are suitable for all. We will be able to deliver specific sessions for disability groups matched to meet their individual needs.
ISportsWalls were originally designed for schools and have games which will allow us to make our sports sessions fun but also educational. Bringing physical activity to maths, English and other subjects will transform the educational projects we run with local schools.
Young people who are not traditionally "sporty" will enjoy their opportunity to show different strengths through the quizzes and mental challenges that the wall offers, while they become more active too!
Participants in our Football Welcomes refugee groups will be able to develop their English skills through games with the wall.
Older participants, including those who access our dementia programmes will have opportunities to stay physically mobile while being mentally challenged.
The wall includes a licence to use the software anywhere that has a whiteboard meaning we can mini sportswalls out into the community.
How will our project be United by Birmingham 2022
We see the Commonwealth Games as an opportunity to raise activity levels in people across Teesside, improving their well-being and long term health. You may have seen this in action in Teesside Park where we are encouraging residents and shoppers to join us in a cycling challenge, pedalling the 173 miles from Teesside to Birmingham.
We believe that sport is for everybody and the ISportWall is a fantastic opportunity to make physical activity more accessible to more people.
The work we do benefits the whole of Teesside and we know the people in our region look after their own. This is our first Crowdfunder campaign, please support us if you can.
