Like everyone, I’ve caught the common cold of mental health problems - depression and anxiety. I had therapy and recovered. I even went to uni to become a therapist. Here’s what I learned. The things that contribute to mental health difficulties isn’t that complicated and recovery from problems also doesn’t have to be complicated. The simpler the better actually. No matter what horrors humans experience, they can recover.
Therapists aren’t cheap so I want to create a set of animations that a) describe what therapy is, what to expect from a therapist and what you can do to get the maximum benefit for the least amount possible. How? By b) explaining complex psychological concepts in a way that a 5 year old can understand and then c) describe simple strategies that will help people overcome the problems and be a mental super hero. How? By d) creating exciting animations for each psychological disorder that normalises the problems and shows you how to get out of them.
Therapy will always be required and it will always be expensive. These animations will completely demystify and normalise psychological problems and their symptoms. It will demystify the therapy process and teach the basic skills you can start using immediately and safely. This means from session one you know what’s up, what you can do about it and how your therapist can help. I just wish I’d had this before I started therapy. I would have recovered in 8-10 sessions instead of the 40 I ended up having and the thousands I spent getting there.
