Aim: Mental health is very widespread among ethnic minorities.AIM is to highlight need for awareness within the communities.Bring awareness.

I am a civil engineer and had a successful career.Recently my activities were getting out of control. I voluntarily admitted at mental health centre. I found that most of the patients were from ethnic minorities. This made me to come forward and share this experience.

At the unit I was under suicide watch. Due to lack of beds I was handed over to HTT who were visiting me everyday.

There was a young girl in the same ward who attempted suicide ,refused  to take a photo or give an interview.

Mental health ward can’t be locked,no sharp objects in room or kitchen.

We have to address the following among ethnic minorities:

1.Stigma surrounding mental illness.

2.Accepting they have mental illness and seek help.
