We're still collecting donations

On the 30th August 2023 we'd raised £40 with 2 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

Hello

Hello, my name is Garen Sharland and I would like a moment of your time. I won’t beat around the bush, Cornwall’s young adults need your help and support. If I’m honest most of the country needs this support. I bet you’re thinking; god what do they want now and you’re right. I am writing this letter to see if you can help and support Meneage Academy Life Skills for Independence.

Meneage Academy School of Independence. We are an independent educational organisation. We specialise in 16+ education, primarily training with hands-on experience to teach young adults life skills for independence.

We use the 13 principles for independence to make ensure we cover a more significant amount of skills which our young adults can learn so that they can have the knowledge to become independent safely.

All our young people will come out with industry-recognised qualifications. We will teach them how to budget, healthy cooking practices, organisational skills, food hygiene and cleaning practices, cooking on a budget, and food safety and help them attain employable skills and qualifications. Within the course our young people will gain first aid level 2, food safety level 2, barista level 1 and other recognisable qualifications.

We will help them look for employment; they will gain interpersonal skills, helping them with future endeavours and overall confidence. No matter what their background. We also want to be able to offer ASD adaptive courses.

We are looking at courses that vary in length, from 1 week to a month.

Without help from other organisations and businesses throughout Cornwall and further afield we won’t be able to reach as many young adults as we would like.

We are looking for sponsorship, donation, pledge or you can sponsor a class, or donate equipment.

We would like to do a raffle county-wide to help spread awareness, with the help of any sponsors or generous individuals or organisations to include amazing prizes; every prize will have links to the website or social media of whoever donated. Of course, we will also include all mentions and credits for prize donations and winners on our social media. Which we expect will reach a million views. Any prize you could donate would be appreciated. We aim to raise as much as possible, to help as many young adults as possible.

We aspire to reach these goals and would be grateful for any help offered both big and small, we hope to guide young adults to a better future, and together we can accomplish this.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or suggestions you may have towards our goal.

Thank you for your time.
