Aim: Support 'Meg & Marge' at EdFringe '25 : a raunchy time-bending dramedy about internet trad wives.

Why support 'Meg & Marge' ?

Because you want to see a tradwife get haunted onstage. Because you believe in the power of strange, horny, experimental theatre made by women. Because independent artists need support to take bold, risky, hilarious work across the ocean.

About the show

Megan is the picture of the tradwife ideal—preaching simplicity, submission, and domestic perfection to thousands of devoted followers. Flawless, faithful, and forever filming her pristine home life, she seems untouchable. But everything begins to unravel when Margery of Kempe, a restless spirit from the 1400s, starts haunting her. Megan’s flawless façade cracks as she questions whether she’s losing her mind—or if Margery is really there. Haunted at every turn, Megan’s orderly world is thrown into chaos as their vastly different centuries collide, dissolving the boundaries of time and intertwining their stories. As their connection deepens, Megan is drawn to Margery in unsettling ways as devotion blurs with desire, and the pursuit of perfection reveals a far darker cost

The play draws upon the groundbreaking medieval text The Book of Margery Kempe to examine the life of a modern American “Trad Wife.” Our piece follows the life of a fictitious traditional wife named Megan, who, upon reading The Book of Margery Kempe, begins to receive visions from the unruly spirit of Margery herself. This play drags the trad wife trend through time, exposing the holy, horny, and totally unhinged expectations haunting women from the 14th century to TikTok.

Who are we?

Whilst many minds and talents have collaborated with us on this project so far, we are coming to Edinburgh as a little team of three.

Actor/ Writer - Cosima Gardey

Cosima Gardey is an actor, writer, director, and producer from London now living in Brooklyn. During her time at Brown University studying Comparative Literature she fell deeply in love with the weird, ecstatic world of medieval history and art, as well as with her dear friend Fiona Tarses. Her theatrical work tends towards stories that reimagine history or literary texts, and explore themes of the body and the erotic. In her dreams, she is often visited by visions of Margery Kempe.

Actor/ Writer - Fiona Tarses

Fiona Tarses is a New York based actor, writer, and director. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she grew up immersed in the performing arts and has considered herself an avid (if amateur) theatre maker since she was very small. She graduated from Brown University in 2024 with a degree in Comparative Literature and has since been living and acting in and around Brooklyn, New York. This play was in part inspired by her obsession with internet sensation Ballerina Farm, and while she largely disagrees with the values and lifestyle choices of trad wives, she tends to love the way they dress.

Producer/ Director - Kendra Mosenson

Kendra Mosenson is a writer, cartoonist, and filmmaker living in Brooklyn, New York. She regularly performs improv and sketch comedy and her writing has been featured in a variety of publications, including The Hard Times. Her first feature film, in which she will also star, is set to begin filming in the fall, and she would like you to know that she just learned how to build a transistor radio.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Because making theatre is expensive- Taking theatre to another country is even more expensive. We're a small, self-producing team. That means we’re funding this show through a combination of personal expenses, fundraising, and your generosity.

We’re determined to pay our collaborators fairly, travel safely, and make this production as strong as it deserves to be — and we need your help to do it.

Where is your money going?

Here is a realistic breakdown of the costs your contribution could help cover:

Registration ~ £280

Venue ~ £3500

Marketing ~ £1500 (incl. photos, graphics, flyers, press)

Production ~ £150 (incl. costumes, set, tech supplies)

(not incl. our travel and accommodation expenses)

Just £20 would significantly help pay for production costs... And even a £5 contribution would pay for 60 of our flyers!

Meg & Marge is the product of years of passionate discussion, personal fascination, and legitimate academic study. We really believe in this show and would be so grateful for any of your help, whether that's a small donation or even sharing the page with your friends.
