Why I am fundraising for Bosence drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre.
My son is the shining light at the very end of a dark, long and winding tunnel. The light wasn't always there, and it didn't happen overnight. It came about after my son's third stay at Bosence and adjoining farm.
I am so proud of what he has achieved after sinking to the very bottom of the pit due to his drug and alcohol addiction. Finally reaching out and wanting the help and support that Bosence offered him.
He is now in his 7th year of recovery and has over those year's built his business back up, which has enabled him to employ two people. He keeps himself fit and can be seen most weekends running the coastal paths of Cornwall. He is an advocate for Bosence and his meetings talking about his road to recovery in the hope that it will inspire others. He is well and truly on his feet now and reminds himself that he is only as good as his last fix or drink.
He loves travelling and has visited many places since his recovery, places that he could only dream about when he was lost in those dark days of drinking bottles of cheap cider in his room day after day, week after week. The dream for him has come true but he still has to work on keeping himself on the right path with the help and guidance of the 13 steps.
I would like other Mothers, carers, families to feel the pride for their son that I now feel for mine. By trying to raise funds for Bosence so another son or daughter can have the benefit of people who will care for them and give them a lifeline back to being a member of society where your loved one can, live, work and hold their head up high.
