On the first of January of this year, our dear friend Matt sadly passed away suddenly.
Matt moved from Australia to London about 15 years ago. He loved the parks here and would spend much time in Hyde Park with his dog, Lizzie. He worked as an accountant in central London, but his true passion was dogs. In fact, he was in the prosess of launching a training & grooming business shortly before his passing. He had even acquired a van to turn into a portable dog grooming unit.
Matt was a beautiful and kind-hearted soul. He went above and beyond for almost anyone he came into contact with.
I know this personally as he once saved my life. He not only gave me a home when I was homeless, he became my friend and subsequently my family, when my own had deserted me. His kindness is the reason I now have my life back together.
I know many others were also impacted by his genuine concern and caring. Given his family is in Australia and his ashes were flown there, his family of dear friends here in London did not have the opportunity to properly mourn his passing.
We wanted to do something special because Matt certaintly deserves more than what he got, as there was no recognition of his life here in London.
Matt mattered!
That's why we are raising funds for the memorial bench in his favorite park close to his favorite spot. The cost of bench along with shipping and installation will run approximately £1500. Any additional funds raised will be donated in his name to Battersea Dogs Home.
Please give as his impact on so many in London truly deserves recognition.
Thank you all, we love you Matt.
