Masks for Scotland

Dear Supporter, 

 A very final email to update you on what Masks for Scotland has achieved with your support as we finally close down after supplying PPE for 10 months. When the appeal itself closed after 5 weeks, we had raised £279,837 to buy PPE for Care Homes and Health Centres/Practices in the community. A whopping £80k over target! The generosity of you all was stunning. Thank you all so much, and big thanks to Edith Bowman for her ‘For the Love of Scotland’ live stream, and to Jack McIlvoy- we passed the £200k target, and then the theme was taken forward with Turnbull & Lyon’s auction raising a magnificent £24,000, thanks to their very kind donors who gave such sensational items to be auctioned. 

We are so grateful also, to the many fantastic celebrities who gave of their time to do video appeals for us, who raised our profile, so we received not only money but also donations of PPE worth another £159,360! Giving us a final total of just under half a million pounds raised. Big thanks guys!  

So what did we do with it? Those of you who follow us on Facebook, ‘Masks for Scotland’, or twitter, ‘masks4scotand’, will have seen the PPE being delivered all over Scotland right up until today with the last deliveries going out tomorrow. You will have seen the thanks we have been receiving and the gratitude sent to you as donors. We have now made nearly 600 deliveries to GP surgeries and Care Homes in Scotland. Over 400,000 pieces of PPE have been delivered, thanks to you, keeping our community health workers and their patients safe. Additionally, we have sent direct from manufacturers 216,000 masks and 26,000 isolation gowns to 7 different charity funded Care Home Hubs, to be shared amongst their Homes, and to Marie Curie. We believe your donations have saved lives. 

Whew! It has been quite a rollercoaster……

Thank you all for rallying round when you were needed. It has been so rewarding for our family here at ‘Masks’ to know there are such caring people out there.
