I would liketo help increase the physical and metal wellbeing of myself and my community by taking part in walking netball.

by Andrene Cox in Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom

Having diabetes, for the sake of my health I needed to get more active, though I wanted to do it at an easier pace and the gym wasn’t right for me. When I was at school, I enjoyed playing netball, but at my age, I thought it impossible, until I thought about how there is walking football, so there must be walking netball.

Having looked for a group in Glasgow, where I live, there was none. Therefore, with the help of family and friends, I decided to start one in the area of Maryhill, where I live. We have borrowed bibs and balls and found the most amazing young lady, who has volunteered her time to coach the group but the main expense is the hall hire.

We're looking for donations so we can get our own balls and bibs for the games, additionally, for each one and a half hours, the hall cost is £54. We’re looking to raise funds to pay for the hall for two months to give us time to attract enough participants to make the group self-sustainable. This is a chance of not only changing my life but all those who take part.

Thanks in advance,
Andrene x
