Aim: On the 28 Sep 25 I am going to run the Loch Ness Marathon to raise money for projects that support service women in NI (serving & retired).
On the 28 September 2024 my appendix ruptured - thankfully my mum & dad had already taken me to A&E and the fantastic team of NHS professionals took fabulous care of me from then on.
The whole experience was a reminder for me that life is precious; and, that there are times in all of our lives when we need access to the right support, for our physical and mental health and wellbeing. I know too that for some, accessing support when it is needed it isn't as easy as it was on that day for me. So, to mark the anniversary, on the 28 September 2025 I am going run the Loch Ness Marathon to raise money for projects that support service women (currently serving and retired).
The project that will benefit is called the Serving snd Ex Serving Women's Network (SESWN). Founded 2 years ago, the SESWN aims to organise activity that brings female veterans and service women together, to promote positive mental and physical wellbeing, to build a community through a network that provides peer support, to combat loneliness and social isolation, and to celebrate all that we have given and have yet to give.
