WHO WE ARE Manvers Lake and Dearne Valley Trust was formed in 2011 and is based at Manvers Lake near Wath-upon-Dearne, South Yorkshire. We have a purpose-built boathouse, lake and surrounding area which is owned and operated by the Trust. Our philosophy is to offer access to all regardless of personal circumstances, race, gender, ability, or faith. The Trust operates mainly in Rotherham, Doncaster, and Barnsley, however visitors do come from further afield.

0WHAT WE DO
- Maintaining and developing the Boathouse and Manvers Lake
- Delivery of a comprehensive weekly programme of activities
- Providing an Outreach Programme to schools and other group users of our facilities
- Offering support and advice to the public on matters related to water sports and other associated sports.
The Lake and the Boathouse provides a focus for our activities and it is estimated that the lake attracts tens of thousands of visitors per year, most taking part in some form of active recreation. We are located on a former mining site, our communities that we serve are listed as areas of deprivation so being able to offer more subsidized and free activities will benefit the health of the local area.
OUR FUTURE
We want to be able to offer and increase participation in activities that were not previously available to all. This is turn will help our local community become more physically active and help with mental health. We do have sessions that are for mental health sufferers and hope that with the new space in the building we can do more.
Currently we have facilities for canoeing, cycling, running, sailing, swimming, triathlon and windsurfing. With the new room we are able to expand activities to cater more for the needs and requirements of the local communities.
We have massively outgrown our original space, due to the extra equipment we have purchased for use and the need for additional training spaces. We have already used up our own cash reserves to extend the current boathouse, to give us more storage and a room available on the first floor.
WE NEED YOUR HELP
We now have a shell of a building, that we need to continue developing into an inter-changeable and usable space. We envisage that this room could be used for meetings, training spaces (the emergency services use our lake for training purposes and have expressed the need to follow this up with onsite class based learning) outside clubs to use for their activities e.g. taekwondo/judo/women's only fitness classes etc. The possibilities that this space can give us and the surrounding communities are endless.
However, we need you to help us finish this building, to create that multi-use space that many, many groups can benefit from.
