Aim: Classical recordings lose money, so we need to raise enough funds to cover most of the cost of our new recording.
Vaughan Williams wrote and arranged tunes for many hymns - some of which are now much better known than others. Some of these tunes inspired orchestral, choral and organ works by other composers, including a number of his friends and contemporaries.
In this album we are bringing together some of these works, - and we are including performances of some of the less familiar hymns.
The performers are:
The London Mozart Players, Dulwich Choral Society, James Orford (organ), William Vann (conductor).
The album includes arrangements by:
Francis Jackson, Percy Whitlock, Malcolm Riley, Helen Glatz, Henry G Ley, David Stone, William H Harris, David Briggs.
The recording was made recently in St. Mildred's Church, Addiscombe, Croydon, making use of their wonderful new west end organ.
The album will be released in good time for Christmas 2025 on CD and Digitally for download and streaming.
Retail sales will not make much of an impact on the costs for this album, and donations will be appreciated. We will publish the names of our supporters in the booklet.
