Our Story:
We are a Ukrainian family of chess enthusiasts: Anastasia, Iurii, and our son, Mykhailo. After moving to the UK due to the war, we found a new purpose in sharing our passion for chess with the local community. Iurii, an International Grandmaster, and Anastasiia, a chess coach, have been involved in the game for many years. Mykhailo, despite being just 14, is already deeply passionate about chess and actively participates in spreading the game to others. Together, we want to create something special — a place where people can experience the beauty of chess.
Our Vision:
We envision a space where not only chess enthusiasts but also those interested in this incredibly smart game can come together. Our Chess Hub will be a cozy location in Manchester, where people can play, learn, and engage with this intellectual game. We aim to create a space that fosters the development of cognitive skills, enhances mental well-being, and encourages social interaction. The Chess Hub will be accessible to people of all ages and skill levels, with particular attention given to youth and seniors.
Additionally, we will host regular events, including workshops and tournaments, where participants can discover the latest trends and innovations in the world of chess and meet other chess enthusiasts.
How We Will Use the Funds:
The funds will be allocated in a thoughtful way to ensure the creation of a comfortable and engaging space for chess lovers:
1. Renovation of the Space:
A large portion of the funds will be used to renovate and customize the venue in Manchester, transforming it into a welcoming, functional space. This includes setting up chess tables, installing comfortable seating, and creating an atmosphere conducive to both relaxed play and focused tournaments.
2. Chess Equipment:
We will allocate part of the funds to purchase essential chess boards, clocks, and accessories. While high-quality equipment is important, our main priority is to ensure the space is well-equipped to cater to players of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced.
3. Café Setup:
Another significant part of the budget will be spent on creating a cozy café within the space, serving drinks and snacks. This area will be a key part of the social experience, where players can relax, chat, and network in a comfortable environment.
4. Organizing Events and Tournaments:
We will also use funds to organize regular chess workshops, tournaments, and community events. These activities will foster skill development, introduce new trends in the chess world, and allow participants to connect with other chess enthusiasts, regardless of their level.
5. Marketing and Promotion:
To attract a broad audience and raise awareness of the Chess Hub, a portion of the funds will go toward marketing. This will cover both digital and local advertising efforts, ensuring we reach chess lovers in the community and build a loyal following for the Chess Hub.
