Do you ever think to yourself, what if I was born in a different country, where poverty, civil unrest and lack of opportunities were my life?
Since 2008, I’ve sponsored children around the world, through World Vision, which is a Christian Charity, to help those who are less fortunate than myself, to tackle root causes of poverty, empowering children to learn to support themselves and their communities for the future. Only once we do this, can we begin to eradicate poverty.
I have been given an opportunity to visit my current sponsored child, in September 2025, Lisete Abel (10yrs), who lives in Mozambique. This for me is an amazing opportunity to see first hand how my support is working to enhance their lives and to see how we can further develop areas that still need to be addressed. Learning about each other’s culture and experiencing it first hand is far more rewarding than receiving the letters we exchange.
My Work Life
As a qualified nurse and educator in further education, for nearly 40 years, my whole life has been about helping people. I've now retired, and I feel this trip will be an extension to my life’s purpose, where I can bring further skills and knowledge to those less fortunate than myself. As a Christian, I feel God is leading me to undertake this once in a lifetime trip.
