For as long as I can remember my dream has been to start a business, I didn't know when I was younger just how much baking would mean to me but after going through some difficult times with severe depression and anxiety baking was like the glue that mended me back together, I'd get lost in my own baking world practising in my mum and dad's kitchen back in 2020... I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2019 which explained a great deal about why I couldn't seemed to successfully conquer the job world, I've bounced from every job you can think of muddling my way through jobs that werent designed for my brain whilst being unmedicated and Untreated.
Once I found baking I knew it was the career I was destined for with my nuerodivergent brain 🧠 as ADHD'ers we can "hyperfocus" on things, which is quite simply like a super-power when you've got loads of bread, pastry and cakes to bake!
I've grown up in a very underprivileged area with limited opportunities, due to my condition not being picked up on at school I left with hardly any qualifications, I then struggled with college and didn't get an education.
In 2019 I joined my local college as an adult learner studying pyschology... another stab in the dark as i just wanted a career, i was always trying something, anything to see if id be good at it to see if it could last for me...but this is where it was picked up on that I could have ADHD and thus my investigations began and my diagnosis was made, finally clarity...! Because of the understanding I had this, provisions were put in place to support me and I absolutely smashed the course and left with distinctions across the board.
With support and encouragement and opportunities I believe people can reach there potential and I'd love nothing more then to open my dream bakery shop.. I've found an extremely rare opportunity to acquire an existing cake shop at £500 PCM - at the moment I just don't have the funds to support this whilst paying rent for the place I live in, as we haven't been able to get on the property ladder either due to set backs and cost of living.
Any money i recieve will be put towards working tirelessly every single day to bring innovation and creativity to a small norfolk village through my bakery, I'd come up with ideas to support loneliness in the community, and also make my little business a safe space ADHD / austim etc.
I am extremely passionate about baking it is so much more than just baking to me, its a purpose.. I've been suffering with depression this past year after lasting two years in a telephone customer service job where I would get moaned at each day on the phone, as I'm still Untreated for adhd and felt demoralised that I can't do what I love in life it's really affected my feelings, I was also diagnosed with pcos and had been struggling with that, consequently its meant money has been extremely tight whilst I have tried to look for other work.. but deep down all I've wanted is to start a bakery.
