Our Vision
Nestled in the Shropshire Hills, Clun is one of Britain's hidden treasures. From its commanding Norman castle to its graceful medieval bridge, every street and stone holds centuries of stories waiting to be told. But without resources to share these tales, this remarkable market town risks becoming just another forgotten gem in Britain's crown.
Our Challenge
Clun is a very small town with less than 700 residents. It faces a unique predicament. Conservation laws protecting its natural environment limiting development and growth opportunities, creating a challenging cycle: without development, the town lacks resources to attract visitors; without visitors, local businesses struggle to thrive
Our Solution
Working closely with the local museum, we will create an attractive, enjoyable and informative mobile phone-based heritage trail. We will ensure the trail accurately represents the character, heritage and voice of the community. Our digital trail will feature engaging stories for each point of interest, with audio narration bringing local history to life. Clear photography and historical images will showcase Clun's heritage, while detailed walking instructions help visitors navigate the town's historic streets. For those unable to visit in person, video features will allow virtual exploration of Clun's fascinating heritage.
Who are we?
TrailTale Services C.I.C. helps small towns like Clun regenerate their centres and preserve their heritage. We're creating a digital heritage trail that transforms Clun's streets into an open-air museum. By combining local knowledge, historical research, and modern technology, we'll preserve and share Clun's unique heritage for future generations.
Taking Action to Preserve Clun’s Heritage
Help preserve the enchanting heritage of Clun, a historic market town caught in a challenging cycle. Due to conservation restrictions that protect its unique character, Clun cannot expand traditionally - yet without growth, it lacks resources to attract visitors and boost its local economy.
