#LWCCVANAPPEAL
LWCC Food Service is based in Brockley, Lewisham. For many years our project has been collecting food donations which is distributed from our project base and during the Coronavirus (Covid 19) pandemic was delivered to customers homes.
We assist people living in Lewisham and surrounding areas, who are in crisis or experiencing hardship. Some of the people we assist are affected by homelessness, long term sickness, unemployment and often are referred through health and social care services.
Our van has served us well over the years but it is now aged and repeatedly being booked into the garage for repairs. Our mechanic advised that no more money should be spent fixing it. On a few occasions we have had to hire a van to collect and deliver food donations while our van was out of service. It also does not meet Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) standards so we will need to pay a daily charge to drive within the zone, when it expands to our area on 25 October 2021.
We desperately need a new van to continue to deliver our food service project. A newer van would mean that we could be far more cost effective and collect and deliver donations safely and in a timely manner.
During the pandemic we delivered over 100 food parcels each week to the most vulnerable groups who were being sheilded and those in self-isolation due to Covid 19 symptoms. We received the Mayor's award for our valuable contribution during the borough's community response to Covid 19.
In the past year we have donated over 25 tonnes of perishable and non-perishable foods and fed over 3000 individuals.
We have no paid staff and exist entirely on the service of volunteers and donations.
Living Waters Christian Centre is a Registered Charity 1058778, which owns and runs the food service. It would be simply amazing if you could help us make a difference to the lives of the most vulnerable living in Lewisham.
Thank You
