Level Up Salisbury - Creating an indoor skatepark!
Start fundraising for this causeI’m raising money to build Level Up Salisbury, an indoor skate park offering a safe, active space for young people to thrive.
On Saturday, 31 May, I’ll be abseiling down the iconic Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth to raise funds for the Level Up Salisbury skate park, a community project led by my husband, James.
Standing at an incredible 170 metres (560 feet), Spinnaker Tower is one of the tallest structures in the UK outside of London. I’ll be descending 100 metres (328 feet) from its viewing platform, harnessed up and hoping my nerves hold steady! Although my work is based in and around Portsmouth, I’ve actually never even been up the Tower - so this is going to be an experience in more ways than one!
I used to be fairly adventurous, but since having children, the chances for thrill-seeking have been few and far between. To make things even more interesting, I’ve developed a bit of a fear of edges over the years! I’m hoping it will feel different when I’m safely secured to a rope - fingers crossed!
Level Up Salisbury isn’t just a skate park - it’s an indoor community space where young people can connect, be active and learn new skills, whatever the weather. Both of my children skate, and they absolutely love it. They cherish their skate crew and the extended friendship group that’s grown from it. Through skating, we’ve met some brilliant people who are now part of this new journey with us. Huge thanks to everyone who’s supported us so far.
I’ll be posting updates and pictures here from the event, so you can follow along as I make my way down Spinnaker Tower.
I’m definitely only doing this once, so please support me and help bring this brilliant community project to life!
Thank you for your support!
