Hello, I am Sharon, the Manager of Liskeard & Looe Foodbank. We have 2 other members of staff, Cathy and John and a team of almost 70 volunteers who help us to help those in need in our community.
The cost of living crisis has put incredible financial pressure on many people and families. The soaring energy prices have caused an increase in need for our help. Client numbers have increased by 53% since April this year.
Our aim is to raise as much as we can to enable us to purchase Slow Cookers to give out to those in need this Autumn/Winter. We believe this will help those in need to be able to cook at a lower energy cost, as compared to a traditional oven.
Slow cookers are energy efficient and enable people to cook nutritious meals such as soups, stews, casseroles and much more.
We will also provide recipes and/or online video tutorials to those we are able to give a slow cooker.
