Love the LifeCare Hub Appeal

Aim: Give some Love to the LifeCare Hub. Help us raise £30,000 for our much-loved community hub in the heart of Stockbridge.

Give some Love to the LifeCare Hub.  Our community activities and spaces make a huge difference to 47,000 local people every year.  But we urgently need your help to sustain our support.    

The LifeCare Hub has served the community for 50 years - help us to secure the next 50 as we brace ourselves for an approx 30% increase in the costs of running the LifeCare  hub across the next 12-months. Can you help?  

It costs over £500 a day to run our busy hub. As a charity we strive to keep our spaces affordable for everyone and as a result we only cover around 83% of our costs.  

There are lots of ways to get involved and no donation is too small, if we received £1 each time a person visited, we’d cover our shortfall.  Please give what you can. 

Help us raise the £30,000 we need.  

What your donations will pay for: 

• Keep our lights and heating on ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for everyone
• Ensure our community activities can continue to support people of all ages, alongside supporting us to ensure local older people live well
• Maintain the hub as an affordable space for our group leaders and the many local people who hire our rooms

Rachel's story:

"LifeCare is and has been part of our family since 2012.  I originally set up my Monkey Music classes at the centre which really proved the most perfect venue for my families.  The facilities have continued to improve over the years and now LifeCare is the Edinburgh home for Dragon Song Productions an interactive children’s theatre company. It’s such a versatile venue and the staff are remarkable.” 

Both of Rachel's parents benefitted from the services at LifeCare.  Her step-father attended one of our day clubs, which provided her mum with time to herself for a bit of respite.  Her mum was diagnosed with Lewy Bodies and deteriorated very quickly. The one thing she loved was the dementia choir at the centre. She would have gone every day if she could have. 

 "LifeCare is more than just a centre. It’s a community service to everyone. It’s home from home for my family."
