My good friend Siân's sister, Celine, has a recent diagnosis of non-Hodgkin's type B lymphoma. It has spread from her thyroid gland to her upper chest cavity, affecting critical blood vessels near her heart. She has also developed lung inflammation and fluid build up.
Celine's situation
Celine does not live in the UK so is in a health care system where she has to pay for all of her treatment, and unsurprisingly for a young mother, she does not have the funds to pay for diagnostics and several rounds of chemotherapy. This feels like quite a shocker to us lucky NHS people here in the UK! The good news is that enough funds have been raised for Celine to have her first round of chemotherapy and that her doctors are pleased with how she's responded, but that will not be it, so more funds are urgently needed so that she can have all the treatment she needs.
Our walk for Celine
Siân and I have decided to go on a long walk in the January cold, so we are participating in the annual London Winter Walk and will be walking 10km in a circuit through central London. The walk being in January is an extra challenge for Siân who has shaved her head in solidarity with Celine. Do please support us to help Celine pay for the treatment she needs to save her life.
