by Kanika Kapur in London, England, United Kingdom
Myeloma, also known as multiple myeloma, is a blood cancer arising from plasma cells. At any one time there are around 24,000 people living with myeloma in the UK. It accounts for 15 per cent of blood cancers, and two per cent of all cancers. Myeloma mainly affects those over the age of 65 and currently remains incurable.
I am part of a group of 10 employees from Johnson and Johnson who are cycling from London to Paris to raise money for Myeloma UK. We all work in myeloma in some way - in the medical teams and the health economics and patient access teams so have seen how important it is to develop effective treatments.
Myeloma UK do an amazing job at providing support for patients and we all wanted to be able to do something to help them with the amazing work they do.
