Who We Are & What We Do
Livingston Community Shed's purpose is to reduce isolation, loneliness and improve the mental health of adults aged 18 and over in Livingston.
Our hearts are certainly in the community, and the experience our members have from various different backgrounds allows us to be open to whatever the community or our members require.
Our 1st project was to produce Chess/Drafts pieces for our Local Community Centre of which you can see the final result on our Facebook page.
We have been asked to look after and rejuvenate a local Memorial Garden which will then be opened to groups in the community to learn about the garden and the plants. We also hope to plant Bee Friendly flowers to help out our little Bee friends in the area.
Weekly we meet in our Community Cafe at The Barn in Carmondean which gives our members time out the house to socialise whilst enjoying some nice fresh Tea/Coffee and Home Baking.
Our Challenges
We are being asked to help our communities more and more as more people get to know what out Charity does. Whilst we welcome this, we are extremely limited to what we can do due to having no Home for a Workshop/Base.
To enable us to secure a home and also be able to purchase tools and materials, we need to raise money.
Our members give their own time, however, there are costs and our members are covering these at the moment. We simply don't have the funds to secure a home and enable us to reach our full potential.
Our Vision
With support and donations, we will be able to secure a Home to build on the foundations already laid and enable us to support our communities more.
Being able to offer those who are isolated a place to come and find companionship and purpose. Share their skills and experience with others or simply want to learn from others. Learn new skills in a fun and friendly environment, and mentor and support one another to make our communities a better place.
