Aim: Inspire, empower, and build confidence in 8–16s through hands-on photography, storytelling, and creative expression.

What is Little Creators?

Little Creators is a hands-on creative workshop programme designed for children and young people aged 8–16, giving them the opportunity to explore the world of photography, storytelling, set design, and visual creativity in a fun, supportive environment.

The project was born from a desire to do more than just teach children how to take photos. It’s about building confidence, nurturing imagination, and giving children a platform to express who they are. For many, this may be their first time being seen, heard, and celebrated for their ideas.

Through structured but playful sessions, children will:

  • Use real photography equipment (DSLR cameras, lighting, props)
  • Learn the basics of camera settings, composition, and lighting
  • Develop their own creative ideas and turn them into styled photo shoots
  • Design their own sets and themes using materials provided
  • Collaborate in small groups, building communication and teamwork skills
  • Take ownership of their creative process, from concept to final image
  • Learn soft business and entrepreneurial skills such as presenting their work, simple marketing, and building a personal brand

💡 Why It Matters

Creative outlets are essential for child development – yet access to arts-based opportunities is often limited, especially for children from low-income families. Little Creators is designed to break down those barriers by offering subsidised places, accessible workshops, and a welcoming space where everyone belongs.

We’re not just teaching photography. We’re creating:

  • A sense of identity – helping children find their voice and self-worth
  • Emotional expression – turning ideas and feelings into something tangible
  • Life skills – like problem-solving, public speaking, self-motivation, and resilience
  • New possibilities – for careers, confidence, and creativity

This is about more than a workshop – it’s about changing how a young person sees themselves.

🛠️ What We Need Funding For

To get Little Creators off the ground, we are seeking financial support for:

  • Purchasing second-hand DSLR cameras and lenses
  • Studio lighting and creative props
  • Workshop materials (crafts, backdrops, set-building tools)
  • Venue hire and insurance
  • Subsidising places for low-income families
  • Marketing and printed materials for outreach

We want to ensure that no child misses out due to finances.

💬 Who’s Behind It?

I’m Samantha Chamberlain, a mum, photographer, and founder of Hello YOU Studios in Wallisdown, Poole. After years of capturing families and watching children grow in confidence in front of my camera, I realised the potential of bringing those skills into a learning experience – especially for kids who may not thrive in traditional classroom settings.

Little Creators blends my passion for photography with my mission to give young people something meaningful and lasting – confidence, pride, and skills they can carry into the future.
