Jamie Gordon is fundraising for The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation Charity No. 1125277

Started on 2nd February 2023 Crossgates, Cowdenbeath, UK

Hello there, thank you for taking the time to read my page. My name is Jamie Gordon and I am a Cadet Flight Sergeant in the RAF Air Cadets and I have created this page to help young people from my chosen charity and my squadron.

My ultimate goal is to help their learning and give them opportunities and resources that they wouldn't really have the funds for. I hope this page displays my passion I have for this organisation, because I've set myself this challenge to push myself for 2 months.

The Purpose

I am currently a student on Junior Leaders Course 2023, the most prestigious leadership course within the RAF Air Cadets. As part of my course I have been tasked with coming up with a fundraiser to raise money for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) and my own RAFAC Squadron 859 Dalgety Bay.

The Lifts

From 1st February to 31st March, 4 times a week and through deadlifts, squats and bench-presses I will lift 3,000 kg a day to ensure I stay on track to achieve 85.9 tonnes, the number being chosen in honour of my squadron 859. Due to my weekends away for cadets I might have to lift more to get ahead which might mean the challenge is completed before the 31st.

The Funds

Raised funds will be split 50 percent between the JTYAF and my RAFAC Squadron 859 Dalgety Bay. The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation was founded by the parents of John Thornton, and ex RAF Air Cadet and former Junior Leader, who was killed in Afghanistan. This charity was set up in his honour in order to support young people both inside and outside the RAF Air Cadets to fund their goals and scholarships.

Additionally, my squadron of 34 cadets will benefit hugely from the funds raised, allowing us to buy computers for learning, electronics for projects and hardware for flight simulators.

To see my progress I'll be posting weekly on social media.

Thank you very much for reading my page, I hope you have an insight into my passion for the organisation I've represented for 7 years. Any donation is greatly appreciated by me and everyone I am doing this for.
