LIFE CENTRE AT WYCHWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH

RCN 1159536, Chipping Norton

We provide cost-of-living support through extended foodbank services, including food parcels, developemnt of a community food space and foodbank takeaways. In addition, our energy fund was developed to help locals most in need and our provision of social groups enables people to maintain and develop vital relationships to help them through this difficult time whilst still enabling them to socialise without financial worries.

LIFE CENTRE AT WYCHWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH

Who we are: We are the Life Centre at Wychwood Baptist Church, a community focused service seeking to provide a range of cost-of-living support to all who need it in the local area at this difficult time. Because we are run both by and for the community and work in conjunction with other community groups, we are aware of how needs change or adapt over time and strive to respond appropriately. What we do: We work with other groups within the local area to ensure the continual provision of social groups and activities that are affordable and fully inclusive. Over this winter this has included a local community cafe and the local toddler group both being offered free of charge. We offer food aid to those who need it in the local area, providing this through a delivery service, community meals providing social and warm spaces at this time and also developing a takeaway food service for those receiving food parcels. We are also currently developing a community foodspace ton reach out to more locals who may find themselves in need from time to time and need somewhere to turn. This means individuals can benefit in a number of ways: saving on vital energy and food costs at a time of ever-tightening household finances; benefitting from warm social spaces; being able to access, or continue benefitting from, supportive relationships that are hugely beneficial in preventing isolation and loneliness at a time when people could easily feel alone. Our services are available and welcoming to all in the local area and we are striving to continually develop them as we grow and new needs arise. We are crowdfunding to ensure the continuation of our services. Without the valued support of people assisting us financially in our work it will be impossible to continue providing such valued services within our community.

How your donations will be used:

Money raised will be specifically used to help us maintain and further develop our foodbank services. This includes the development of a community fridge (to be known as the ‘Life Larder’) to provide many more people with a drop-in food aid project where they will be able to access food for free or by giving a small donation if they are able. It is hoped that this will include fresh and frozen food as well as the usual tinned and dry food options. It will also help us in the development of our takeaway meals, covering the costs of ingredients, storage boxes and energy usage. These are provided to foodbank customers as a means of helping them to save not just on food costs but also on energy costs for cooking.
