Help us keep on serving the local community and meeting the needs of older people and those with mental health challenges.
Project by BLACKFRIARS SETTLEMENT
On the 26th April 2022 we'd raised £6,466 with 54 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Please help us help older people and those with mental health challenges in the north of Southwark.
In ordinary times we earn income to help pay the costs of providing our services for the community.
Covid has dramatically reduced our earned income, but the need for our services has grown. Can you help us support those who have struggled the most during the last couple of years?
Sunday lunches for older people on their own
'Great place, great food, great staff, great company, I'd be lost without it!'
'Somewhere I can go to when feeling lonely as I meet lots of new friends. I enjoy the company.'
Women's group
'Grateful for listening, talking and deliberating with issues and it gives me hope'
A safe and positive space for our Mental Health & Wellbeing women members to set their own discussion agenda.
Art materials
'It was the art sessions that really caught my eye. These sessions help me relax and [be] comfortable. I grew from those sessions by believing I could actually draw and be artistic. I also grew by meeting new friends and by discovering things about myself through encouragement from the art tutors & art therapist. I felt more heard here than anywhere else.'
Regular sessions for members to explore using creativity to boost their wellbeing, confidence and skills. We provide different art mediums, and staff and peer support.
Singing for Wellbeing group
‘It keeps me motivated. It’s a great form of exercise and socialising. And it brings me joy.’
‘Helps my memory and good for my breathing.’
‘Enables me to sing my heart out.’
It’s therapeutic and it makes you feel good.’
Regular facilitated singing sessions for our older members. The positive physical and wellbeing outcomes of singing are well known: it's good for us. The group helps members in many ways.
