Aim: The team at loveholidays is raising money for Oldham Pride to support the LGBTQ+ community in Uganda.
The team at loveholidays are supporting Oldham Pride to help raise money for safe houses in Kenya for the LGBTQ+ community who are fleeing Uganda and we would really appreciate your donations.
You may have seen in the news recently that the Ugandan parliament has approved new legislation which entrenches the criminalisation of same-sex conduct. This includes the death penalty for certain same-sex acts and also seeks to prevent any activism on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBTQ+) issues.
Your donation will help go towards funding safe houses in nearby Kenya and help LGBTQ+ community members reach safety from the violence they are facing at this moment.
There are 10,000 LGBTQ+ people who may be impacted by this in Uganda, with many in danger and with nowhere to turn and some are already homeless and hearing of others committing suicide.
You’re money will not only provide safe temporary accommodation in Kenya but it will;
Oldham Pride's aim is to partner with further safe houses around Africa and hopefully other charitable partners or NGOs (Non-Governmental Organisations) that support the community.
They are currently working with trusted partners to reach and support as many members of the community as possible, so you can be sure that the donation is reaching those who are genuine and most in need. Oldham Pride is using World Remit money transfer.
We ask all those reading please feel free to share this by posting on social media and donate whatever you can, however large or small. (Simple delete the amount and re-add your preferred donation in.)
