Our young people with additional needs support the local community with volunteering, whilst learning independence and employability skills, alongside making new friends.

Our Level Up Gosport young people cultivate their own allotment, practicing and learning horticultural skills with the aim of becoming 100% organic and sustainable. Alongside the young people learning all about the soil, environment, the seasons and the joy of growing their own vegetables, they also love engaging with the older allotment holders - their local community - who enjoy passing on their knowledge and enthusiasm, whilst giving advice, some practical training, as well as exchanging grown produce.
"I joined because I had a breakdown at work with stress and depression…I was at rock bottom and needed something to help me. Level Up Gosport has made me the woman I am today…strong, confident and independent. I can make decisions by myself, something I didn’t thing was possible but Level Up Gosport helped me to achieve this.” R - currently independently volunteering at a local group
At the moment it is run by a trustee who volunteers their help, but due to a family commitments, they are no longer available to help.
We would like to employ a part-time 4-hour allotment support worker to enable the young people to carry on cultivating their green, community space; and your support would enable this to happen.
Previously, our allotment won second prize in Best Allotment: 5 Rods & Under in 2021.
