I’m relatively new to running and love the convenience that you can stick your trainers on and go whenever, however in the winter by the time you’re back from work/school/university it is cold, dark and unappealing outside. Not feeling safe running alone in the dark is an issue especially for women, and having a friendly group meeting on a weekly basis is so helpful to keep regular training over the winter months. We all put some lights and reflective jackets on and with the cheerful atmosphere 5km is done in no time, and you get to meet keen local runners too! I’m now running my first half marathon to raise money for this amazing group to train more volunteers and hopefully start more branches for local women to run in their neighbourhoods. Thanks to our local run guide volunteers who plan new routes every week and make the whole thing happen!
